Candidate code: 67

Candidate Summary

I want to become an MSYP to help reduce youth knife crime and overall youth based violence. Another issue I would like to focus on is the negative views on young people by adults and important figures. I plan to do this by challenging negative stereotypes. This is because these views affect young people's mental health in a negative way. I also want to campaign for better youth based health services, to help with improving their wellbeing.

Personal statement

The way I plan to consult with young people in my area will vary. This is because I am a part of the DRC Youth Committee, with the ability to talk to a variety of young people and adults regularly. I am also respected and have good relationships with everyone who attends. In the past, I have worked alongside many partner organisations and young people across the North West. Although something I plan to do is use social media to inform people of my role and how I can help, possibly through polls and more for engagement.

What are the three issues that you are most interested in?

Health and Wellbeing, Justice and the Environment.

What issue matters most to you and why?

The issue that matters the most to me is justice. This is because those who commit crimes should be held responsible, but also should have the right to understand what their actions have done. I am very focused on working towards a better understanding of young people who commit crimes. I feel as though young people would appreciate an improvement in youth justice for their community.

Why Should Someone Vote for You?

I have a passion for changing young peoples futures for the best outcome and opportunities. As well as this, i am already listening to young peoples opinions and making small changes. I have been described as passionate and driven by my peers due to my commitment to the DRC Youth Committee. I am often viewed as a positive role model, accepting young people for who they are, especially in my community, and I continue to support them. I do this because of my main values on equality, responsibility and change orientation. Someone should vote for me because I'm resilient and want what is right for the young people, and I plan to take my journey further to help make this positive change.
