By first of all consulting with the people who pay tax and promoting police’s that are not just for minorities. As a white heterosexual Catholic growing up in the 80s-90s I faced sectarian discrimination but it seems that’s ok as I am not of colour. Positive discrimination only does the opposite and creates division. Glasgow city council should act within its remit and leave legislation to the courts.

Given that equality and human rights legislation is controlled by the UK government, there is no legislation that the Council can pass on this matter. But why let that ruin a good conspiracy theory eh?
Present day structural racism needs to be acknowledged and from there anti-racism and race equality needs to be effectively implemented across public sector organisations by Glasgow City Council. For example, more action should be taken to address the disproportionate levels of poverty experienced by BME communities in Glasgow.
Work needs to be done directly with Black and minority ethnic communities in Glasgow to secure their rights and promote their voices and aspirations across Scotland.
Involve interested people in curating and researching history. Bring primary documents and objects into schools through digitisation and interpretation.
