By first of all consulting with the people who pay tax and promoting police’s that are not just for minorities. As a white heterosexual Catholic growing up in the 80s-90s I faced sectarian discrimination but it seems that’s ok as I am not of colour. Positive discrimination only does the opposite and creates division. Glasgow city council should act within its remit and leave legislation to the courts.

none of this discrimination is okay. But here is no legislation involved here, just a conversation about what the city should do about its past.

        "COLLABORATIVE *********LEGISLATION********* PROCESS
        Slavery and Colonial Legacy"
"This online civic conversation continues the work of the Slavery and Colonial Legacy Working Group with a view to preparing a report by consideration by Glasgow City Council."

        Come on.

Given that equality and human rights legislation is controlled by the UK government, there is no legislation that the Council can pass on this matter. But why let that ruin a good conspiracy theory eh?

By not pandering to activists who seek to weaponise it for their own benefit.

Present day structural racism needs to be acknowledged and from there anti-racism and race equality needs to be effectively implemented across public sector organisations by Glasgow City Council. For example, more action should be taken to address the disproportionate levels of poverty experienced by BME communities in Glasgow.
Work needs to be done directly with Black and minority ethnic communities in Glasgow to secure their rights and promote their voices and aspirations across Scotland.

Involve interested people in curating and researching history. Bring primary documents and objects into schools through digitisation and interpretation.

I'd like you to clean the city up and stop worrying about things that aren't in your remit.
