Why do you want to become an MSYP
I want to become an MSYP because I want to make sure that the constituency becomes more vibrant by covering the area in people’s art, encouraging more people to walk and go outside without gentrifying it. As well as going from there on how organisations can create opportunities that young people will know treat them with care and respect. These opportunities are meant for all young people. And I want young people to also be aware there are multiple paths to education that they might want to take which could give an overall make it easier for young people, since everyone is different, and just raise awareness and reduce shame around it. And I already met a lot of young people from all over, and I want to reach more because as simply put young people like you and me deserve respect, to be treated fairly, and to be seen.
Why should someone vote for you?
Someone should vote for me because I have experience in leadership, I learnt to connect to and with others regardless of my own issues making it harder for me so I know I can persevere through difficult issues. I listen to and teach others, I can admit my faults and learn to grow from them, and make decisions in the best interest of others, and I have learned to become more organised with time, and being more organised has helped me become a better leader, friend and more, and someone should vote for me because I trust myself enough to have broken out of my comfort zones, and be a young leader and researcher on rights, anti-hate and anti-discrimination, and so much more, and I want to continue so I know I’ll do that best as a MSYP, that is why someone should vote for me.
How will you consult with young people in your constituency?
My main way would be through surveys, but I would also want to plan events, focus groups and meeting young people in my constituency in a way that is accessible to them, I wouldn’t be perfect at it, and would most likely also opt for online meetings on teams, but I would definitely prefer and do my best to meet my constituents in person, since that gets more out of them and what they want and is simply more fun and interactive, like mini quizzes and surveys, social media posts, talks and presentations.
What are your top three issues from the list given?
Health and Wellbeing, Education and Lifelong Learning, Justice. For me the issue that matters to me the most is education and life long learning, just because it can teach people about the things they maybe interested in, but people don’t know or have a negative idea of different types of learning apart from school, that can get you were you want to go in the future, like going on trips, doing things online, etc. Which isn’t fair for people who struggle in school but don’t know learning can look so vastly different from expectations and traditions, and can give a better experience of education, as well as having more variety, and learning more about things that you usually wouldn’t focus on in school, like the less known topics, or special interests, that have careers in them, as well showing that there are more ways than one.
