Why do you want to become an MSYP

A lot of the time it feels like politics doesn't work for young people the way it should – too often people are focused on dividing 'us' from 'them' rather that working as 'we'. I've already spent 2 years representing young people on a local and national level, and the best feeling in the world is making change – making life just that little bit better. I want to be an MSYP because we deserve change: through better education, stuff to do outside of school, and cheaper public transport. And that's what I'm running to deliver.

Why should someone vote for you?

For the last two years, I've fought to get your voices heard: £60,000 for local clubs and activities, progress on cheaper public transport, and a groundbreaking youth charter to make Glasgow work for you, just to name a few!

I have the passion, the commitment, and the experience to make real change for you – because we deserve change.

I'll work to get up to half a million pounds of funding for activities to do outside of school, fight for cheaper public transport with OneTicket, and get more spaces where you can hang out with pals and access support.

Politics doesn't work for young people right now – so let's change it. Vote Matthew #1 for Glasgow Kelvin & Maryhill, and let's make real change together.

How will you consult with young people in your constituency?

I'm always available on social media or through my email, and if you have any ideas, please come and see me – it might be the next big thing! You'll be front and centre of the campaigning I do – I'll be in and about schools and clubs for focus groups to hear your voices, and you can take part in the online surveys on the topics that affect you. Together we can make our communities a better place for all of us.

What are your top three issues from the list given?

Education and Lifelong Learning, Jobs, Economy and Fair Work, Transport. I've been part of the Transport, Environment, and Rural Affairs Committee since I joined SYP, and transport is a massive priority of mine: with me, you'll get cheaper, simpler, and better public transport with my OneTicket campaign! Education is also key, and I'll make sure that school gives you the real skills you need to thrive.
