Why do you want to become an MSYP

I want to be an MSYP to create opportunities for young people. I was given an opportunity when I was allowed to attend an Additional Support Needs school when I needed it, then a public school to take my Highers, and then university, where I received even more support. Without these opportunities, I would not be as far in life as I am today. I have been able to see the benefits of the support systems currently in place for young people, but also the strain they are under and the risk they are at of collapse. We must work to ensure young people are given the best chance possible to thrive and develop into capable individuals regardless of background.

Why should someone vote for you?

Young people should vote for me because I have personal experience relying on the types of support that Youth Parliament helps lobby for, not only in school but also in everyday life and at university. What sets me apart is my intent to include everyone's voice by travelling to ASN schools as well as public schools and hearing what the pupils there feel could be done better. My determination for inclusiveness also extends to those at graduate age who will be looking, and struggling, for work. That is why two of my main issues to campaign on were inclusion and employment. The third issue I would like to focus on is the environment, as that is also something we all feel the effects of. With regard to completing my other duties, I also have no problems with public speaking, having done so during legal moots.

How will you consult with young people in your constituency?

I want to be an MSYP to create opportunities for young people. What are your top three issues from the list given?

Employment, Environment, Equalities. I'm particularly passionate about accessibility and inclusion with regard to disabilities.
