I want to be an MSYP because I know that people are unhappy with the way exams are structured, and feel that they are an unfair evaluation of their abilities.

I want to be an MSYP because I want to give young people a voice. We have such a good community and amazing young people in the area yet some people still don’t listen to us. Adults should listen to young people and show us respect when we talk about how there isn’t enough spaces for us young people anymore. I believe we can make our community better than ever if we speak up.

Most young people in Glasgow have never talked to a politician. A lot of us feel like nobody in charge is listening. I want to fix that. I’m not running to push my own ideas. I’m running to be your voice. I’ll take what young people in Glasgow Central care about and say it straight to the people who make the decisions. I already do this at university, where students pick me to speak up for them. As an MSYP, I want to do the same thing for everyone in our area. I also want to help young people meet politicians and speak for themselves.

I want to become an MSYP because I believe young people deserve to have a genuine say in the decisions that affect their lives. I want to use my experience in youth representation to make sure young people in my area are listened to, particularly those who may not normally have the confidence or opportunities to speak up. I also want to turn the views of young people into meaningful action, whether that is improving access to opportunities, protecting young people’s rights or tackling inequality.

I want to be an MSYP to create opportunities for young people. I was given an opportunity when I was allowed to attend an Additional Support Needs school when I needed it, then a public school to take my Highers, and then university, where I received even more support. Without these opportunities, I would not be as far in life as I am today. I have been able to see the benefits of the support systems currently in place for young people, but also the strain they are under and the risk they are at of collapse. We must work to ensure young people are given the best chance possible to thrive and develop into capable individuals regardless of background.

I want to become an MSYP because I want to make real changes for young people in Glasgow Central. One change I would like to see is shorter waiting times for mental health support. Waiting a long time for help can be difficult when someone is already struggling. I would also like to expand free travel to trains. Free bus travel for under-22s is a great support, but adding free train travel would give young people more transport options and could make some journeys quicker. I would also like bus services to run more often and be more reliable. I also want to improve safety by supporting better street lighting in areas where young people walk, especially during dark winter evenings. I have seen local youth organisations create positive change. As an MSYP, I would listen to young people, find out what needs to change and raise these issues.

I want to become an MSYP to represent the young people in Glasgow. I care deeply about our community and want to make it a better place for everyone. I will listen closely to everyone’s view and make sure our voices are heard loudly and clearly by adults.
